Squeaky Clean Monday.

Today is Καθαρα Δευτερα, or “Clean Monday” here in Greece.  Essentially, it marks the beginning of lent, a time to purify one’s body and soul before Easter.  Greeks spend this day eating traditional meat-free and dairy-free foods and flying kites with friends and family.  It’s no coincidence that this “purifying day” comes right after the drunken debauchery of the carnival season (see Helen’s post from yesterday for more on this…).  After a weekend of excess, we could all use a day to detox and rest.  Clean Monday is also a reminder that spring is on the horizon and that we could all use a little purity in our wardrobes as well.  After a long winter of blacks, browns and greys, it’s time to break out the whites for spring ’13.  Check out this all-white spread from this month’s Fashion Magazine for inspiration.

And what’s even purer than white?  Transparent!  Transparent accessories and clothing were all over the runways for spring 2013.

I’m still on the fence about this one, particularly with regards to the transparent bag trend – mainly because I’m not so sure I want the contents of my purse on display for the whole world to see.  Call me insecure, if you wish.  Still, there’s a reason all those transparent bags on the runway were empty.  Just saying.

Until soon,
