What’s Fresher Than Fresh Line?

There’s this show I’ve been watching lately called Στην Πράξη, which translates to, In Action. Yesterday they did a feature on Fresh Line Cosmetics – a Greek company whose products I’ve been using for years, since before moving to Thessaloniki. Fresh Line’s been in business since 1992, and boy are they blowing up. They started out with one store in Athens, and now they’ve got more than 120 – worldwide. (Goal is to reach 300 over the next three years.)

Why is it flourishing? Because it’s amazing, that’s why. How is it amazing? Try the fact that the products are all made from organic, natural ingredients. NO chemicals at all. NO parabens. NO synthetic colors. NO alcohol. NO genetically modified ingredients. NO animal testing. There are a whole bunch of other things they DON’T put in their products that I can’t pronounce. Which is good. Plus, they carry products for everyone! Guys, gals, little kids…everyone.

I know what you’re thinking – there are plenty of companies that do that. But there’s something different about this stuff. When you go to the ingredients page on their website, you get thumbnails of photos like these: (One from every letter of the alphabet – except D. They don’t use anything that starts with the letter D. And Q. And U, X, Z.)

I enjoy the way all products are named after characters from Ancient Greek Mythology. For instance: olive oil products are named after the goddess Athena, rose products are named after Hera – Zeus’s number one wife. Apollo products all contain bay leaves, and Aphrodite products are made to enhance beauty – cellulite creams, brighteners, etc.

Plus, their products actually smell GOOD. They also look good – good enough to eat! Don’t worry – these are easy on the nose AND easy on your waist line (not edible).

Grape Souffle Soap Cake – Note the Grape Leaves. Are those real grape leaves?

A take on the traditional Ekmek Kataifi – but in the shape of soap. Ingredients include: organic honey, cinnamon and shea butter.

Orange Soap Cake.

A Fruit Medley Cake. Not the official name. One thing’s sure. It’ll get you clean.

Dark Chocolate Marble Soap Cake. With ingredients like: Dark chocolate, rice flour, shea butter, and milk – which we know softens skin naturally…

Gourmet set – Made to order. Mom always told me never to visit anyone empty-handed. This is a much healthier option than a box of Greek pastries…and more creative, too.548546_10150859779059765_927274959_n

Whenever I go back to NY for Christmas, my sister begs me to bring back her favorites. She loves the Persephone line – especially the Ylang-Ylang and Jasmine Body Milk. I also get her the Tea-tree oil face cream, toner and astringent…They happen to be my favorites, too. Their masks are amazing, and so are their soaps. (If you don’t want to buy the cake, you can pick up individual slices.)

I love that the people who work there know their stuff. And I love that it’s a Greek company that’s flourishing in a time of crisis. Precisely because it’s offering natural products to people – made with quality and care. Which should always be the case, but sometimes isn’t.

For now, here’s a recipe that comes from their facebook page. It’s Monday. Kick back, whip up some eye gel, and give your eyes a ten minute break. All natural, and practically free.

Until soon,
