Dimitris Alexandrou: Greek God Reincarnate

Dimitris Alexandrou is a Greek male model, currently pursuing a career abroad and working on the difficult job of being both irresistible and heavily bearded. (If you think that’s easy, then you try it.)

I’d seen him before in photos and magazines and ads and what-have-you, but knew nothing much about him until I happened to catch this episode of Ολα last week. I watched the interview, awestruck, hypnotized, bitch-slapped by his beauty. And managed to catch some information about him in the meanwhile…

First, he served in the Greek army as an Evzonos – that is, he was member of the Presidential Guard.  Only the best looking and tallest boys are chosen for this role in the Greek military, and they look like this:

So that’s pretty cool that he was one of those guys. These are photos from a shoot he did with photographer Predrag Padjic in 2011 and Sotiris Georgeou (another Greek designer):

Alexandrou was a bodybuilder before he became a professional model. He had lots of reservations about giving up bodybuilding for modeling and didn’t really want to do it. Until one day, about three and a half years ago, when photographer Errikos Andreou, finally managed to convince him to smarten up and get into the biz. He had to lose 27 kilos (that’s 60 pounds!!!) to even start modeling, but he did it. And we are SO VERY glad he did.

Here’s another shoot he did with Solene Herbert, by photographer Rene Habermacher, for Trendsetera. And then I promise, that’s it. If you want more photos, go here.

Dimitris Alexandrou. Proof that the gods still walk among us.

Until soon,
