Today is May Day, and that means a lot of things here in Greece. On the one hand, it’s demonstrations in the city center about…the usual stuff. On the other hand, it’s picnics and sunshine and friends and laughter. Traditionally, people round these parts gather flowers and make wreaths out of ’em. You can hang these flowered wreaths on doors, or wear them on your head. Pagan style.
We didn’t make flowered wreaths today. But if we had, they probably would have been made of poppies and daisies and roses – because that’s what’s blooming everywhere wild and crazy right now. And perhaps they would have looked something like these flower hair wreaths I lifted off this tumbler page. And then this page, too. We don’t care that most of these photos are of girls (and boys) that aren’t wearing real flowers in their hair, do we? No, we don’t.
But alas – we didn’t make wreaths. We did, however, enjoy a lovely lunch outside with our M’s and some other friends. A lunch by the sea. That counts for something, don’t it? 😉
